10 days in Cambodia

Cambodia is slowly recovering from the horrors of the Khmer Rouge's reign of terror. The process of reconstruction and healing is now well underway, and more and more tourists are rediscovering Cambodia's attractions. The magnificent temples of Angkor are the obvious attraction for most tourists, but the country has much more to offer: pepper plantations, colonial buildings, and an abundance of natural attractions.

Phnom Penh

Although its past was marked by tragic events during the Khmer Rouge regime, the city of Phnom Penh is experiencing a cultural and economic revitalization that makes it a perfect choice for all kinds of tourism. Whether you're looking for serenity or not, the city will meet all your expectations. Today, the city stands out for its exceptional cultural and religious sites: the Royal Palace, the nearby Silk City, as well as for its delicious traditional cuisine and friendly people. It is also the largest city in Cambodia.

Kampot

Kampot town is easy to explore on foot, and surrounding attractions are accessible by motorbike, taxi, or tuk-tuk. Kampot's laid-back atmosphere is one reason you might want to stay a little longer than planned. Combine a visit to this charming town with a day trip to Bokor National Park or a local pepper plantation, and you're sure to have a great time.

Kep

Near the Cambodian city of Kampot lies the province and seaside resort of Kep. In the 1920s, Kep was a popular summer resort among the French colonial powers. Today, the French mansions remain neglected, but the town is seeing a rise in local tourism eager to discover its beaches, national parks, and most importantly, its excellent seafood, especially crab!

Siem Reap

A few kilometers from Angkor is the town of Siem Reap, where you'll likely stay. You can explore the Old Market district, which encompasses Pub Street and its adjacent alleyways, a lively tourist hotspot in the city center. Also, Sivatha Boulevard, located in the old French Quarter, is a charming neighborhood with charming vintage colonial buildings that have stood the test of time. Outside the city, discover the stilt villages of Kompong Khleang and Tonle Sap Lake.

Angkor

Angkor Wat is often cited as the eighth wonder of the world, and this breathtaking temple is frequently added to lists of "things to see once in a lifetime." It is often recommended to take several days to visit the many temples of Angkor, a 1, 3 or 7-day pass is also available for purchase. You will not be able to visit them all as there are more than 100, but I recommend you visit the main ones: Angkor Wat, Ta Som, Ta Prohm (famous for being depicted in the movie Tomb Raider), Bayon, Baphuon.
